ABE ranked #2 in the U.S.

The Agricultural Engineering program at Iowa State University is ranked #2 in the country in the U.S. News & World Report's 2008 "America's Best Colleges" annual rankings.  The department jumped four spots from the last ranking and is the only ISU department ranked in the top 10.  The ranking is based on the opinions of deans and senior engineering faculty nationwide.

The national rankings of agricultural engineering programs whose highest degree is a doctorate is as follows:

1. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
2. Iowa State University
3. Cornell University (NY)
4. Purdue University (IN)
4. Texas A&M University
4. University of California - Davis

Overall, Iowa State's engineering program ranks 37th, up from 39th last year. Iowa State is tied with Arizona State; Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Penn.; the University of California, Santa Barbara; and Yale University, New Haven, Conn.

Iowa State University is once again among the top one-fourth of all public national universities.
