Honors and Organizational Involvement:

Lara Moody is a registered Professional Engineer in Iowa. She joined the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department as  an Extension Program Specialist in September 2004. She holds a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering and a M.S. in Biosystems Engineering from the University of Tennessee. Her areas of extension and research specialization are animal waste management systems and nutrient management planning for livestock and poultry operations. Lara coordinates and manages projects for the ABE Agricultural Waste Management Laboratory including preparing funding proposals, planning projects, managing budgets, and analyzing and disseminating results as well as managing national certification programs and short-courses. These projects focus on animal waste management and include work on anaerobic digestion, solids separation, phosphorus recovery, and air emissions monitoring and mitigation from animal feeding operations.

Lara has 10 years of experience working on environmental and agricultural engineering projects. She has over 30 technical publications and over 15 grants she has participated in as a co-PI. Lara has worked on engineering projects with the USEPA, USDA-NRCS, USDA-FAS, America's Clean Water Foundation, and Conestoga Rovers and Associates. She has worked on projects in the U.S., Bulgaria, Denmark, and Romania. In 2008, Lara received the Iowa State University P&S Outstanding New Professional Award.
