Current Projects:

As an undergraduate research assistant, I assist with any project to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner. My current primary task is the Development and Testing of a Hydrogen Sulfide Detection System for Use in Swine Housing project. The majority of my duties include lab testing sensors and prototype development.

This project is to develop a system to detect H2S gas in order to reduce the risk of animal deaths during pump-out events in swine production facilities. This system may increase human safety. Although it is never recommended a person enter a swine house during slurry agitation, this system will be able to detect hazardous conditions combined with effective ventilation or agitation techniques to prevent hazardous conditions could increase safety.
