The Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in conjunction with University Extension is pleased to host a national conference on Mitigating Air Emissions from Animal Feeding Operations. This conference is intended to provide practical information related to mitigation of air emissions to technical service providers, extension personnel, industry consultants, and facility owners and operators.
During the last decade, increased attention has been given to odor and air emissions from animal feeding operations by researchers, regulatory authorities, the public, environmental organizations, funding sources, and production facility owners and operators. This topic has gained importance at the local as well as the national and international level. Also, as individuals seek to build new facilities and to co-exist with increasing residential neighbors, mitigation of odor and air emissions is at the forefront.
The conference deliverables will include both electronic and paper proceedings. These proceedings will be designed to be a resource to industry consultants and producers on what mitigation methods are available as well as the applicability and cost associated with each mitigation option. It is envisioned that the proceedings from the conference will be used by consultants and producers as a practical reference as to what the currently available options are when considering air emissions mitigation strategies for animal feeding operations.
Technical Session topics will include emission prevention, emission capture or treatment, emissions masking or dispersal, and facility management and siting. In addition, this conference will provide a means for information exchange and the opportunity to network with mitigation technology providers. In addition to technical sessions that will feature presentations on current and developing technologies for air emissions mitigation from all animal species, the General Session will include invited presentations from national and international experts on the current state of the science and regulatory atmosphere in both the United States and Europe.
General Session:
Invited national and international experts will present timely keynote presentations on the following general session topics.
