Ben began his M.S. program in January of 2007 following graduation from ISU with a major in Agricultural Systems Technology and a minor in Animal Science. He is applying his expertise to study and develop bio-secure composting procedures for potentially infectious livestock wastes that could be used in the event of livestock disease outbreaks such as the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak which occurred in Great Britain in 2001. Ben’s research is being sponsored through a 3-year contract with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and is funded by the Canadian Research and Technology Initiative. 

Outside of research activities, Ben volunteers his time to coach athletics at Nevada High School.
