Benoit is a doctoral student working on the development of near infrared robust techniques for across brand standardization.

Using spectral data collected over the last 5 years by the Grain Quality Laboratory at Iowa State University, Benoit is investigating the possibility of using only one soybean prediction model per constituent for a network of different instrument brands. He is particularly interested by robust techniques that try to include the variability of all instruments of a network.

Benoit’s research is funded by the United Soybean Board and operated by the American Oil Chemists’ Society. He works also on other topics involving near infrared prediction processes and climate effects on prediction accuracy. He has some experience with mid infrared through previous work experiences on wine quality and apple mycotoxical contamination.
